Perfect Time was the Clannad singer's first solo Christian project and from the response, it was perfectly timed! The album sold over a quarter of a million copies, making Máire the biggest selling Christian music artist outside of America. Following hard on the heels of the success of Perfect Time and her appearance on the Streams project - duetting with Michael McDonald on Peter Gabriel's song Don't Give Up - it's been a busy few months for Máire. Her recent appearance in the British charts with the Chicane single Saltwater (a remake of the Clannad hit, Harry's Game), introduced her to a whole new audience and now, here's the eagerly awaited new album, Whisper To The Wild Water.

The album has the classic hallmark sounds that have contributed to the worldwide success of Clannad, including the distinctively layered ethereal vocals which have been much imitated but never equalled. As a founding member of the platinum selling group, Máire was recording Celtic music before it gained global popularity - Whisper pulls together all that's best about Celtic music then takes it further.

Sonically stunning with fresh soundscapes that soar and dive, the album takes some of the floating sounds of Perfect Time but anchors them to a much stronger rhythmic approach. The result is a stronger, poppier, magnificent album that does not lose any of the atmospherics that have made Máire's work so beguiling. One highlight is the title track with its enigmatic melody lines and haunting chorus, complete with Máire's excellent Celtic harp playing. The incredible Peacemaker samples Máire's five year old son speaking Gaelic and combines it with some stunning acoustic guitar, a simple rhythm, those characteristic ethereal vocals and Máire's interpretation of the prayer of St Francis.

Elsewhere, Life sweeps past in a waft of guitar synths, Celtic pipes, stunning backing vocal arrangements and Máire's strong melodies that simply curl around and around, totally captivating the listener. Another highlight is the Gaelic version of the popular Be Thou My Vision (originally translated by her Grandfather), bringing a totally new dimension to a familiar song. But then such is Máire's skill as she crafts musical and vocal elements into an album that makes you want to close your eyes, sit back and allow the musical breeze to gently soothe you. If Perfect Time gave you the perfect opportunity to discover her music, Whisper To The Wild Water is a quiet but powerful musical invitation to take a bold step deeper into the sheer beauty of Máire's musical and spiritual universe. You won't be disappointed.
