From the pop rock of their debut album through to the brooding poetry that fills some of this third release, it has been quite a journey. Fittingly A Place Where You Belong is all about journeying and what we can discover along the way. There are songs of longing and a strong sense of the distance between the road and home, which acts as a metaphor for our human journey with the final destination of Heaven. Every song tells a story, or offers some insights as vocalist Andrew Osenga makes his observations. There's Less Than Love with advice on relationships and the more upbeat sound of Radio and then the semi-psychedelic influences of We Go On which paints a bigger lyrical picture. Brittle Bone is a captivating commentary on intimacy with God celebrating the beauty of Christ laying down his life for us and observes how easily we take it for granted. Musically and spiritually, this is grown up music for the soul with a yearning that is reminiscent at times of David Gray with occasional echoes of U2 and Simple Minds.
