Savour this Salute to Songwriter Dottie Rambo
Many of our Homecoming videos include songs written
by Dottie Rambo. This video tribute to Dottie highlights some of
those heartwarming moments. With host Bill Gaither, Dottie shares
the story of her life as a songwriter, a story that began when
she was just a child. This special video features performances
with Homecoming artists who have had a “home going” since these
tapings, including Vestal Goodman, Jake Hess, Bob Cain, James Blackwood
and others.
Open a hymnal today and you’ll probably find at
least one or more songs by Dottie Rambo, who has
composed and published more than 2,500 songs
during a performing career that began at age 12.
Her impact on gospel music has been compared
to that of Fanny Crosby, legendary American
hymn writer. Dottie is a member of both the
Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of
Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. When
Whitney Houston recorded her song “I Go To
The Rock” for the movie The Preacher’s Wife, the
soundtrack achieved double platinum status and
Dottie won a Dove Award as the song’s composer.
In 2001 she was awarded the ASCAP
Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
